Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
What Is An EPC?
An Energy Performance Certificate is a document which provides information on the energy use in your home.
The energy survey needed to produce an EPC is performed by an assessor who visits your property, examines key items such as loft insulation, domestic boiler, hot water tank, radiators, windows for double glazing, and so on.
The exercise is entirely non-invasive to the home owner.
EPC Banding is split into sections A – G.
The most energy efficient homes are classed in band A with the least energy efficient in band G, throughout the UK the average EPC falls within the D – E bands.
From the 1st April 2012 homes installing Solar PV must be a band D or higher to qualify for the maximum Feed-In-Tariff (FIT).
